The Billy Creek Museum opened in 2001. It was a culmination of ten years of dedication and hard work by community members to negotiate the retention of a historically significant site at Huntington Lake.
The Museum has become a meeting place, a repository for the history of the Huntington Lake Basin and a location for educational opportunities. It has brought together various forces that support protection and understanding of natural resources, Native American traditions and European pioneer contributions to the Basin and recreational pursuits.
We have outgrown the existing buildings. The Board of Directors has made the decision to move forward to begin a capital campaign. With your financial support the Historical Conservancy will be able to meet the challenges and opportunities of the present and for the future. The initial support by the Forest Service has been extended in a new 20 year lease for the Billy Creek Museum site. We need your support to make the Interpretive Center happen.
